I love this site–Restaurant-ing Though History. Because, according to blogger Jan Whitaker, “we eat in restaurants several times a week and yet know very little about their history.”
As someone who social history ephemera–this is right up my alley. Having lots of fun perusing the pages here. She carves it up by decade. I love, of course, these pages: Taste of a Decade: 1920s Restaurants, 1930’s Restaurants.
Be sure to also check out the Prices Page, which gives sample menus and how much they cost, going back to the 19th Century. Fascinating. There are also recipes from famous locations. And lots more.
I guess this is my cue to stop reading and go grab some lunch. Heck! I’m hungry! XXX
